Accuweather & Westfield malls weather app
Digital solutions provider, DynAgility, reached out with a project for Accuweather / Westfield. Installed inside the Westfield shopping malls are 13 feet x 18 feet Daktronics LED displays that are used for advertising and video display. They were planning on displaying a weather app by Accuweather and Dynagility, however the LED displays only run on the Flash platform which is no longer widely supported, and unable to run their HTML5 weather app. They needed a custom Flash app built quickly.
With designs supplied, I created a master app in Flash Builder that pulled data directly from the Accuweather API. In total, 13 individual apps were produced, each with their own settings to retrieve the local weather, and display accordingly the data, custom weather animations, and photos of the local area based on the current time of day or weather condition.
